ABSTRACT

PurposeInthisstudy,cationicmannosylatednanostructuredlipidcarriers(Man-NLCs)weredevelopedforthetargeteddeliveryofrifampicintoalveolarmacrophages.

MethodsRifampicinloadedMan-NLCs(RFP-Man-NLCs)andrifampicinloadedunmodifiednanostructuredlipidcarriers(REPNLCs)werepreparedusingthinfilmhomogenizationmethodandcharacterizedbyparticlesize,polydispersityindex,zetapotential,transmissionelectronmicroscopy,encapsulationefficiency,pharmacokinetics,biodistribution,cellspecifictargeting,cytotoxicityandinflammatoryresponse.

ResultsRFP-Man-NLCsandREP-NLCsobtaineddisplayedasizedistributionaroundnm(PDI0.30)withpositivechargesofapproximately30mV.TheencapsulationefficiencyofRFPwasabove90%.Inthebiodistributionstudy,bothRFP-Man-NLCsandRFP-NLCs,
